The ruler by which great design is judged. Designed for AIGA St. Louis, the call for entries piece challenged designers to measure up to their peers. Screen-printed wood and custom photography reinforced the theme, embracing the quantifiable in the pursuit of exceptional quality.

“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” The client’s desire to promote inclusivity and connection to their customer base resulted in an invitation that – once connected – is greater than its individual pieces. Graphic connections between the collateral support the spirit of connectivity, driving the message to the audience that “the whole” is needed to tell the complete story.

Designed to make a powerful impact, this large format proposal featured various case studies, reinforced with strong photography and minimal project narrative. The structured design boosted the message, highlighting the body of work in visual form.

Unbuilt
Started – but not done. The Unbuilt book was a concept piece of cutting room floor project sketches and ideas. The mark was derived from the visible framework of the construction process with the intent to appear started – but unfinished.
Project Blackbird
An identity of mystery. The creation of the mark for a high-end motion graphics company that is impactful but subtle. High-end but unpretentious. Project Blackbird wants their work to speak for itself; the monochromatic mark allows them to be recognized without an overt identity.
Driveshack (Concept)
Our client set out to take entertainment golf to the next level. We developed a custom logotype and branding package that would coincide with the building architecture and also influence the interior space. We explored materiality, environmental graphics, a simple app interface, and merchandising applications.
Ace in the Hole
Designed for the modern-day golfer, this prototype for a hole in one display replaces the traditional version of the celebratory memento. Featuring a customizable interior panel with transparent casing, this contemporary interpretation ups the “cool” factor for the game’s next round of perfect shots.
LACOEX Proposal
Vibrant. Energetic. Flashy. Diverse. Utilizing type and color only, the proposal for the Los Angeles Convention Center Expansion reflects the character of the city in a sophisticated packaging concept featuring geometric type and an iridescent foil finish.
2012 ArtsKC pARTnership Awards Luncheon Collateral
The collateral for this premier business luncheon paid homage to the cosmos-inspired theme and the magnetized metal sculptures by the featured artist. Metallic ink and simple typography underscored the complexity of McCandless’ forms, inviting Kansas City’s most cultured to join in a celebration of the arts.
CFM Identity
Upward financial mobility is emphasized in the collateral for a new financial services company. Based on the traditional power of green in financial branding and balanced by modern typography, the CFM identity stresses its client-driven approach with a nod to its local roots in the Crossroads district.
30 Years of Cheers
Rallying together to make great buildings for thirty years is certainly reason to celebrate. These holiday cards reflect the spirit of the sport and assembly-focused architecture practice as it celebrated a successful 2013 year - and thirty more years to come.
Corporate Communications
Provided to employees as a sales aid, this corporate tool equipped their workforce with additional communication tactics to drive additional revenue. The reference guide highlighted communication across various platforms, using simple photography and type for a clear and consistent message.

Working in collaboration with a team of designers, the corporation’s 2007 annual report required a high level of teamwork and communication. Simple, clean design was essential in reinforcing the bottom line to the company’s valued shareholders.

Promotional Mailer
Self-promotion without an ego. As an exploratory alternative to the traditional resume, printed cards supplemented with die-cut acrylic backers were used to highlight print and environmental graphic design experience to potential employers.
Recruiting 2014
Designed to recruit architecture graduates to the Kansas City practice, the book was created to attract the millennial mind. Bright colors, simple iconography and a limited word count were emphasized to engage the “quick-flip” brain of the younger, technology-savvy generation.
JLKCMO Annual Report
Focusing on the voluntarism spirit of its members, the 2011-2012 JLKCMO Annual Report featured high-impact photography and information-driven design to support the organization’s accomplishments. The report served as a valuable tool for the League as they rallied community and government donations and support for their mission.
Golf Tournament Packaging
The design of custom sleeves and collateral for the corporate outing took a light-hearted approach to the challenging nature of the game of golf.
Imagine That Conference
The exploratory theme of the event collateral focused on experience DNA, challenging conference attendees to think about the framework behind the totality of travel. Helix-inspired graphics enhanced the event program, reinforcing the continuity of the start-to-finish experience.
Westlake Ace Hardware
“A mystic realm of color.” This graphic system was intended to inspire customers to rethink the diversity of color in applied form. Simple color forms and the layering of pure shapes presented an uncomplicated, straightforward solution to the vast world of a life enhanced by color.
Qatar Olympic Masterplan Packaging
The Qatar Olympic proposal relied on color code management to tie the vast information set to a common theme. Emphasizing ease of use for the client audience, the pure white boxes provided a dramatic contrast to the bright colors of the submittal.

A playful approach to the technicality of architecture and uniqueness of nature. Drawing on references from architectural language, the holiday card features a methodical process for the “perfect” snowflake.

Intended to showcase a vast range of environmental expertise, the book features a diverse collection of built work, activating the user response with impactful photography and vibrant color. Concise messaging and high-end printing techniques emphasize the luxury of services offered.

A visual history of success. Over two hundred pages of energetic imagery promote thirty years of vast experience across the globe. With a focus on simple graphic layout, the photography is the star, showcasing visual design in its cleanest form.
